The Manchurian Golden Quail, or also known as the Italian Speckled, was popularized in the USA during the early 1970's by Albert Marsh of California. These are one of my favorite color type, very eye pleasing and seem to have a less flighty personality.
The cocks are easy to sex at about 6 to 8 weeks old, when they develop their black throat band, chocolate brown cheeks and head markings. The hens do not have these markings by this age, although some hens can have speckles on their backs.
Beautiful bird with black and tan markings over a cream base. These are similar in appearance to the Mexican Speckled Bob White Quail. Adult wt. 8-10 oz.
